Sue Collins

Sue Collins trained at the Dublin School of Acting and worked as a freelance actress until she founded The Nualas in 1995. The act became a huge success and she performed as a full-time Nuala for seven years touring extensively in England, Ireland, Australia, Singapore, and six runs at The Edinburgh festival where people ‘killed to get a ticket’- The Scotsman. Apart from The Nualas’ numerous television and radio appearances they wrote and performed two six-part series for BBC Radio Four and received glowing reviews for three sell-out London runs.’ They are simply resonantly hilarious’-Time Out. The Nualas hung up their boots in November 2001 but not before completing a highly successful seven week run at The Irish Arts Centre, NewYork and two sell-out farewell shows at The Olympia Theatre in Dublin.   

Since then Sue has gone solo. Her work includes regular sketch writer and performer on the radio show ‘Stand-up sketches’ for RTE radio. She wrote and performed a half hour comedy special ‘The Plunkett-Murphys’ in the ‘Stand-up story’ series also for RTE and she has had many TV appearances including a regular slot as  Marilyn Mergatroyd in ‘X-it poll’, also for RTE television. She wrote and staged her one woman comedy show ‘Only Gorgeous’ and was a resident comedy columnist for ‘The Village’ magazine. Sue is a founder member and guest improviser with ‘The Dublin Comedy Improv’. She produced and toured the hit comedy show ‘Funny Girls’ where she performed her latest stage hit creation ‘Carmel’ which is currently taking the corporate circuit and comedy world by storm, and has appeared at all the major comedy festivals including The Cat Laughs and most recently appeared on Liffey Laughs for RTE television.

 

Carmel is part hard-bitten Dub, part-Bohemian, she stands out as the hilarious rendition of a brassy northsoide boord, her pastiche is authentic, intelligent and above all side splitting. A must see.’ – Temple Bar Magazine (Dublin)

Sue’s recent work includes ‘Soupy Norman’ for RTE Network Two, ‘Raising Children’ and ‘The School Run’ for TV 3 and ‘Badly Drawn Roy’ for BBC. She will be starring in  Neil Simon’s ‘The Odd Couple’ which will be touring in 2009.
