Sharon Mannion
Sharon made her stand up debut at the Kilkenny Cat Laughs (Fringe) Festival 2005. Within a couple of months she was a finalist in the Bulmers International Festival- Best Newcomer competition. She has been gigging ever since and is now a regular support act at clubs all over the country; The Ha’penny (also as MC), Capital Comedy Club, Bewleys Comedy, The International, Stand Up at Bankers, Comedy at the Sheds, Crawdaddy, The Laughter Lounge (Dublin), Cuba, Basement Comedy Club (Galway), Empire (Belfast), Revolution (Waterford), Comedy Den (Limerick), LV (Cork) as well as gigging in Nenagh, Roscommon, Fermoy…the list goes on.
In February of last year she won the Toilet Duck-Best Stand up award at the Fr. Ted Festival (Tedfest ‘07). In July 07 she came third in the UK and Ireland Funny Women competition at the Comedy Store, London.
Having begun her comedy career as an improviser, she still performs regularly with the Ha’penny Laugh Improv troupe, and weekly with The Craic Pack at The Bankers. Most recently, she was co-founder of Ghost Train Willy, the newest sketch group to take the Irish comedy scene by storm.
A rising star, Sharon is destined for big things and is definitely one to watch!
